Lucknow, Oct 19 (PTI) Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday announced that his party would release its manifesto for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections on November 26, coinciding with Constitution Day.

Polls to the 403-member state assembly are due early next year. The schedule is yet to be announced.

In a post on X, Yadav said, “Sattais ka Sankalp: PDA ka Prannpatra (Resolve for 2027: PDA’s pledge).”

The “Jan-Man Manifesto” would be released on the “democratic and sacred occasion” of Constitution Day on November 26, the former chief minister said.

The PDA is an acronym used by Yadav for the collective of ‘pichhde’ (backward classes), Dalits and ‘alpsankhyak’ (minorities), which forms a key plank of the Samajwadi Party’s political outreach.

Yadav had earlier said that the SP would also prepare separate manifestos focusing on each of Uttar Pradesh’s 75 districts.

The SP is set to contest the state polls in alliance with the Congress against the BJP-led government.

The BJP has been in power in Uttar Pradesh since 2017. Before that, the SP governed the state under Yadav. The Bahujan Samaj Party, led by Mayawati, was in power from 2007 to 2012. PTI KIS DIV

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
