Machavaram (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 26 (PTI) A gas leak from an ONGC pipeline was brought under control here in Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district on Monday, an official from the state-run oil and gas firm said.

The leak occurred around 8:30 am on Monday at Machavaram village in Ambajipeta mandal, the official said.

“There was a small gas leak in one of the pipeline connections. We have closed the well and the work is in progress to repair that link. Everything is under control,” the official told PTI.

As a precautionary measure, the affected area was cordoned off and several ONGC teams, including a fire team had also reached the spot, said the official.

Meanwhile, Konaseema district collector Mahesh Kumar Ravirala issued a statement saying that people need not worry about the gas leak in Machavaram.

He said the district administration was alert and fire engines were kept ready as a precautionary measure. PTI STH SA

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
