New Delhi: The Skill India Mission (SIM) of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is working towards empowering the youth of India with industry-relevant skills to meet the needs of the growing demands of the industry, a PIB press release stated.

The mission is aligned with the goal of providing a Skill India initiative that offers students the opportunity to acquire skills and take on employment opportunities in their choice of industry. To achieve this objective, the MSDE has taken various steps, including the establishment of 36 Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), led by industry leaders, to identify and address the skill development needs of various sectors.

These SSCs work in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to develop training programs that reflect the needs of the local industry and provide students with the skills they need to enter the workforce. The training programs are aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), which ensures that students receive a quality education and are equipped with the skills they need for economic success.

The MSDE has also taken steps to strengthen the partnership between educational institutions and industry by promoting employment opportunities for students. This has been achieved through the establishment of a Flexi MoU Scheme and Dual System of Training (DST), which enable students to gain skills through internships and employment opportunities in the industrial sector.
