Amritsar, Sep 17 (PTI) The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Thursday suspended Akal Takht’s additional head granthi Malkit Singh and driver Mohan Singh after their names surfaced in an alleged immoral case.
The action was taken on the directions of SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami following reports that allegedly came to light.
The SGPC did not reveal the nature of the alleged immoral case involving Malkit Singh and Mohan Singh.
In a statement issued here, SGPC chief secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan said the action against Malkit Singh and the driver at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Mohan Singh, was taken after information about the matter emerged through the media.
He said that according to the directions of SGPC president Dhami, both employees had been suspended from service and directions have been issued to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter.
