Seychelles High Commissioner calls on Assam Governor

Guwahati, May 16 (PTI) The High Commissioner of Seychelles to India, Harisoa Lalatiana Accouche, called on Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at the Lok Bhavan here on Saturday and discussed issues of mutual interest, officials said.

Acharya said Seychelles is globally admired for its natural beauty, ecological richness and unique biodiversity, while Assam is also renowned for its scenic beauty, vibrant cultural heritage and rich biodiversity.

He pointed out that Assam offers immense potential as a destination for tourism and cultural engagement, according to an official release.

The Governor expressed optimism that cultural exchange programmes between Assam and Seychelles would strengthen people-to-people ties and deepen mutual understanding.

Acharya also underscored the importance of collaboration in ecological preservation, sustainable tourism practices, education and skill development, the release said.

He welcomed the possibility of academic exchanges and opportunities for students from Seychelles to study in Assam’s educational institutions.

The High Commissioner invited the Governor to visit Seychelles, and both expressed hope for a long-lasting friendship and meaningful cooperation, it added. PTI DG RBT
