Kanker, Sep 14 (PTI) A 41-year-old head constable of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with his service rifle at a camp in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on Monday, a police official said.
The incident took place around 5 am at the force’s camp in Kuhche village under Antagarh police station limits, he informed.
“Head Constable Anand Prakash Tiwari, posted with SSB’s 28th battalion, allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle. No suicide note was found. An investigation is on to ascertain the reason why he took this extreme step. His body was sent to a hospital in Bhanupratappur for post mortem,” the official said.
Tiwari was a resident of Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh and his family members have been informed, the official added.
