Ludhiana, May 3 (PTI) Mounting a sharp attack, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday asked his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Singh Mann and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal to issue a white paper on the “tall promises” made to the people of Punjab and their implementation.

Interacting with reporters after presiding over a state-level function of Kashyap Samaj where he paid tributes to Maharishi Kashyap, Saini claimed, “Not a single rupee of the promised Rs 1,000 monthly allowance has been given to women. The Mann government must also tell the people how many jobs were given and how many employees retired during its tenure.” Notably, Punjab government had earlier this month issued a notification for the implementation of the ‘Mukhya Mantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’, under which eligible women will receive monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 (Rs 1,500 for SC women).

Charging that the AAP government has “failed on all fronts”, Saini alleged that industrialists are worried “as industry is shifting to other states”.

“Gangsters are ruling the state. Law and order is at its lowest. Extortion calls and killings are rising unchecked. Farmers, traders, employees, labourers — everyone is facing hardship,” he alleged.

Saini asserted that a double engine government under dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is needed in Punjab to restore public confidence in the system.

Punjab goes to polls early next year.

“People of Punjab have made up their mind to oust the AAP government. They are only waiting for the polling date to be announced,” he claimed.

Referring to the May 1 special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the Haryana chief minister strongly condemned Mann for his “conduct”. Saini called it was “sacrilege in the temple of democracy”.

Earlier, Punjab BJP leaders including state unit chief Sunil Jakhar had alleged that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann arrived for the special session of the assembly on Friday in an “inebriated state”, calling it a serious issue.

However, Punjab Finance Minister and senior AAP leader Harpal Singh Cheema, while replying to questions on the allegation against Mann, had maintained that the opposition has levelled false and baseless allegations to defame the chief minister.

Saini also took a dig at the “hollowness of the much-publicised” ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign of the AAP government.

“The drug menace has multiplied under the AAP regime. Drug smugglers are moving freely in Punjab,” he charged.

On case registered against Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak who recently joined the BJP after leaving AAP, Saini said: “Looting, thrashing, filing police cases and jailing opponents is the biggest policy of the Aam Aadmi Party government.” He added that such policies never yield long-term results.

Saini also accused the Punjab government of spending more on publicity than on announced welfare schemes. PTI COR SUN PRK
