Hamirpur (HP), Oct 20 (PTI) Hundreds of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) workers took out processions at various places in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday to mark the organisation’s foundation day.

In Hamirpur town, young and elderly RSS workers marched through the main bazaar, singing religious and patriotic songs.

Addressing the main function in Hamirpur, RSS North Zone Baudhik Pramukh Harish Kumar said the world was looking towards India as people were dissatisfied with the functioning of their governments.

He said India had made significant progress and the RSS was making efforts to contribute to the country’s development.

Bhumi Dutt Sharma, who presided over the function, urged people to adopt swadeshi and refrain from using foreign goods.

He said the five-point programme introduced by the RSS for its workers — social harmony, family awakening, environmental conservation, selfhood and swadeshi, and civic duty — could help bring about social change and unite society around Hinduism and nationalism.

Sharma also urged people to perform weapon worship during Dussehra and other Hindu festivals, saying weapons could prove useful during a crisis. PTI COR BPL MDO

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
