Road crash in UP leaves one dead

Bahraich (UP), Jul 5 (PTI) A 48-year-old man was killed while 11 passengers were injured on Sunday after a bus collided with a cement-laden tractor-trolley on the Gonda-Bahraich road here, police said.

The bus was on its way from Gonda to Bahraich when it rammed into the tractor-trolley moving ahead of it near Chilwaria at around 5 am. The impact caused the tractor-trolley to overturn.

The injured passengers were rushed to the district hospital where six of them were discharged after receiving first aid. The condition of one woman is stated to be critical, police said.

The tractor driver was taken to hospital, where doctors declared him dead. He was identified as Hariom Singh (48), a resident of Gadwa Nautla village.

Police said the body has been sent for postmortem examination and an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.

District Magistrate Akshay Tripathi and Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Srivastava reached the accident site and supervised the rescue operation. PTI COR ABN DV DV
