Kolkata, Sep 2 (PTI) The RISE Conclave this month will bring together around 150 startups from diverse technology domains, including healthcare, agriculture, clean technology, artificial intelligence and robotics, as part of an initiative to strengthen the interface between research, industry and entrepreneurship.
A CSIR official said on Wednesday that the two-day sixth edition of the research-industry-startup platform will begin on September 6, for which 800 delegates have registered.
The conclave, a collaborative initiative of four CSIR laboratories in eastern India — CGCRI, IICB, CMERI and IMMT — aims to accelerate the translation of indigenous research and development into practical technologies and enterprises.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh, besides representatives from industry, academia and the policy ecosystem are likely to attend the conclave.
Briefing reporters ahead of the event, CSIR-IICB Director Vibha Tandon said the 150 participating startups represented a broad technology-driven ecosystem emerging from eastern India and other parts of the country.
The startups span healthcare and life sciences, including HealthTech, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medical devices and women’s healthcare.
The AgriTech and food innovation segment includes smart farming, agricultural machinery, organic products, animal health and farm-to-market solutions.
A significant focus of the conclave will be on clean technology and sustainability, with startups working on waste-to-wealth solutions, renewable energy, green hydrogen, carbon removal, biochar, energy-efficient technologies and battery recycling.
The event will also showcase advanced materials, nanotechnology, specialty chemicals, ceramics and cellular glass, besides technologies involving artificial intelligence, physical AI, robotics, IoT, electronics, semiconductors, RF systems, AI governance and cybersecurity, officials said.
Aerospace and autonomous systems, education and skilling, digital platforms, 3D printing, smart manufacturing and industrial automation are among the other areas to be represented at the conclave.
Tandon said the convergence of deep-tech, sustainability, healthcare, agriculture and digital technologies would provide opportunities for technology transfer, industry collaboration and entrepreneurship.
CSIR-IMMT Director Ramanuj Narayan said critical elements such as recycling had received emphasis, with the institute taking several measures in this area. Several case studies highlighting such interventions are expected to be presented at the event, he said.
The RISE Conclave will also feature startup technology pitches, industry applications, advanced materials and manufacturing technologies, investor, incubation and funding connects, besides B2B and technology connects, according to the organisers.
