Aizawl, Aug 13 (PTI) Retired IAS officer K Lalrinzuali on Thursday took the oath as a member of the Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC), a day after the state government initiated a review of its public recruitment framework amid demands for reforms.

Governor VK Singh administered the oath to Lalrinzuali at a ceremony held at the Lok Bhavan in Aizawl.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma, Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama, Home Minister K Sapdanga, and Leader of the Opposition Lalchhandama Ralte were among those who attended the ceremony.

Lalrinzuali, who retired from the IAS on July 31, has had a career spanning more than three decades in the state administration.

She joined the Mizoram Civil Service in 1992 and was promoted to the IAS in 2019.

She last served as Commissioner and Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department and the Power and Electricity Department.

She has also served as Deputy Commissioner of Lunglei and held senior positions in education, tourism, horticulture, land resources and disaster management departments.

Her induction into the MPSC comes at a significant juncture, with the state government having on Wednesday constituted a panel to review the framework and processes for public recruitment in Mizoram, following a five-day agitation by the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP).

The government has said that the review is aimed at identifying systemic bottlenecks and procedural shortcomings, and improving transparency and efficiency in public recruitment. PTI CORR SOM

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
