Jaipur, Jun 15 (PTI) Rajasthan is set to receive an allocation of over Rs 11,581 crore under the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) scheme, officials said on Monday.
According to an official statement, the new scheme will replace the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and will be implemented across the country from July 1.
The Centre has finalised an interim allocation of over Rs 7,581 crore for Rajasthan under the scheme for the financial year 2026-27, while the state government will provide an additional Rs 4,000 crore. The state allocation may be increased further based on the requirement and demand.
With this, the total outlay for Rajasthan under the scheme will exceed Rs 11,581 crore, making it the highest-ever allocation for rural employment guarantee in the state, the statement said.
It said the new scheme, titled Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin), is expected to strengthen rural economy by making it more self-reliant, inclusive and empowered.
Under the scheme, the statutory guarantee of employment for eligible rural households will be increased from 100 days to 125 days in a financial year for those willing to undertake unskilled manual work.
The statement said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the state government will ensure effective implementation so that no eligible rural family is deprived of its benefits.
It also provides for weekly wage payments, replacing the earlier system of payments within 15 days. Wages will be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank or post office accounts through DBT, ensuring transparency and timely disbursal.
Existing MGNREGA job cards with completed e-KYC will remain valid until new rural employment guarantee cards are issued under the provisions of the new Act, the statement added. PTI AG KSS KSS
