Jaipur, Jun 24 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Wednesday said the state government is prioritising the expansion of basic infrastructure and citizen services across the state, as he announced development projects worth Rs 631 crore in Jaipur’s Sanganer.
Addressing a function for inauguration, foundation-laying and distribution of land pattas, Sharma said the government is committed to ensuring easy access to electricity, water and other essential services, particularly for people at the last mile.
He said a total of 1,538 development projects have been undertaken, which will strengthen and upgrade basic facilities such as roads, power and water supply, ensuring better quality of life for residents.
Highlighting urban reforms, the chief minister said Jaipur’s transport and sanitation systems are being made “high-tech” to meet future needs.
Sharma also announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of Jaipur Metro Phase-2 on July 4. The project, estimated to cost over Rs 13,000 crore, will connect Prahladpura to Pinjrapole Gaushala and is expected to ease traffic congestion and boost the city’s overall urban development.
The chief minister credited the Centre’s initiatives over the past 12 years for strengthening urban infrastructure, citing schemes such as Smart Cities Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), PM SVANidhi, AMRUT and Swachh Bharat Mission.
Emphasising the state government’s focus on both development and heritage conservation, Sharma said key projects, including a flyover at Muhana Mod on Jaipur-Bhilwara Road, a sewage treatment plant in Bambala, a satellite hospital in Prithviraj Nagar and a trauma centre in Bhankrota, have been initiated. He also announced beautification and renovation of 115 temples in Sanganer.
He added that projects like Unity Mall, Riddhi-Siddhi flyover, Sanganer elevated road and Dravyavati river development were progressing.
On sanitation, Sharma said Jaipur has introduced five advanced mechanical litter picker machines for efficient waste collection, including in narrow lanes and difficult spots.
He also distributed Swamitva cards to beneficiaries, noting that drone-based surveys have been completed in over 8,000 villages, with around 14 lakh property cards issued so far under the scheme.
During the event, the chief minister flagged off vehicles for sewer cleaning and public awareness under Swachh Survekshan 2026, and distributed awards to winners of a sanitation marathon.
