Rain, thunderstorms likely across Arunachal on Friday

Itanagar, Jun 4 (PTI) Fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is likely over several districts of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday, while scattered rain and thundershowers are expected in the remaining parts of the state, according to the latest forecast issued by the Meteorological Centre, Itanagar.

The weather office said fairly widespread rain or thunderstorms are very likely in Upper Subansiri, Kra Daadi, West Siang, Lower Siang, Leparada, Kamle and Papum Pare districts.

Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected in Tawang, Shi-Yomi, Upper Siang, Siang, East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Dibang Valley, Lohit, Anjaw, Namsai, Changlang, Tirap and Longding districts.

The district-wise warning map for Friday places most districts under the ‘watch’ category, indicating the possibility of adverse weather conditions. Isolated heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely at several places.

Alert-level warnings have been issued for Kurung Kumey, Lower Subansiri, Papum Pare and Leparada districts, while a warning-level alert has been issued for Kra Daadi district due to the likelihood of more intense weather activity.

The five-day forecast suggests that wet weather conditions will persist across the state.

On Saturday, fairly widespread rainfall is likely over Upper Subansiri, Kurung Kumey, Kra Daadi, East Kameng, West Kameng, Pakke Kessang, Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, Kamle, Lower Siang, Leparada and parts of East Siang, while scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected in the remaining districts.

Similar weather conditions are likely on Sunday and Monday, with fairly widespread rainfall forecast over many central and western districts and scattered rain and thunderstorms over eastern and northern parts of the state.

Most districts are expected to remain under the watch category during the period, according to the warning outlook issued by the Meteorological Centre.

Meanwhile, for Thursday, fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms were forecast over Upper Subansiri, Kurung Kumey, Kra Daadi, West Kameng, East Kameng, Pakke Kessang, Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, Kamle, West Siang, Leparada and Lower Siang districts.

Scattered rain and thunderstorms were expected in Tawang, Shi-Yomi, Upper Siang, Siang, East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Dibang Valley, Lohit, Anjaw, Namsai, Changlang, Tirap and Longding districts, the forecast added. PTI UPL UPL RG
