Jalandhar, Jun 24 (PTI) Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh Bittu on Wednesday laid the foundation stones of two Road Over Bridge (ROB) projects in Jalandhar.

The projects, he said are part of the Centre’s efforts to strengthen railway infrastructure and improve connectivity in Punjab.

The first ROB will be constructed at Guru Nanak Pura in place of Level Crossing No. B-67A on the Jalandhar City-Jalandhar Cantonment section.

The project, located on the Sahnewal-Amritsar railway route, will be built at a cost of Rs 48.95 crore and will be fully funded by the Railways.

Bittu said the bridge will help reduce traffic congestion and eliminate delays caused by frequent closure of the railway crossing.

He also laid the foundation stone for a two-lane ROB at Garha Road in place of Level Crossing No. S-4 on the Jalandhar City-Nakodar section.

The project, estimated at Rs 63.98 crore, will also be fully funded by the Railways.

The minister said the Garha Road ROB will improve connectivity between Jalandhar City, Jamsher Khas, Nakodar and nearby areas while enhancing road safety and reducing traffic bottlenecks.

Bittu said the two projects would facilitate safer and faster movement of people and vehicles and benefit thousands of residents in the region.

He appreciated the efforts of railway officials, engineers and local authorities involved in expediting the projects and expressed confidence that both ROBs would be completed within the stipulated timeframe. PTI VSD NB NB
