Chandigarh, Jul 23 (PTI) The Punjab government has extended the deadline for students to obtain and update digitised birth certificates on the Unified Student Registration Portal for the 2026-27 academic session, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said on Thursday.
The minister said Class 8 students who do not have digitised birth certificates have until October 30, 2026, to obtain the document and upload it on the portal.
He said students of Classes 9 and 10 have been allowed to complete necessary corrections and updates until the registration process for the next academic session. Bains said the decision was taken to ensure that no student is denied admission or faces difficulty due to documentation delays.
He said the extension reflects the Bhagwant Mann government’s commitment to digital reforms in school education while addressing practical challenges faced by students and parents.
“Our government is committed to creating a paperless, transparent and efficient education system through the Unified Student Registration Portal, while ensuring that procedural issues do not become an obstacle to a child’s education,” Bains said.
The minister directed school heads to coordinate with parents and ensure that the registration process is completed within the revised timelines.
