New Delhi, Oct 19 (PTI) President Droupadi Murmu on Monday greeted citizens on the eve of Vijayadashami and asked everyone to resolve to uphold the noble ideals of our cultural traditions and contribute towards building an inclusive society and a developed nation.

“The festival of Vijayadashami has a special significance. It symbolises the victory of Bhagwan Shri Ram over Ravana. Bhagwan Shri Ram is revered as the embodiment of righteousness and moral conduct. This festival celebrates the triumph of Dharma and justice over Adharma and injustice,” she said in a message.

President Murmu said that Indian culture is rooted in the ideals of morality and duty.

“On this occasion, let us resolve to uphold the noble ideals of our cultural traditions and contribute towards building an inclusive society and a Viksit Bharat,” she said.

The president extended heartfelt greetings to all Indians living in the country and abroad on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami.

“On this sacred occasion, I extend my heartfelt wishes for the happiness, good health and well-being of all citizens,” she added. PTI AKV SKY

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
