Hamirpur (HP), Jun 8 (PTI) The Himachal Pradesh Election Commission has now commenced preparations for elections in the Una, Baddi, and Hamirpur municipal corporations.

After conducting elections for four municipal corporations and 53 other urban local bodies in the state, the commission has begun preparations for the remaining bodies.

The commission has initiated the process of updating voter lists for the Baddi and Una municipal corporations. Subject to government cooperation, elections could be held within six months or even sooner in these bodies, said an official spokesperson on Monday.

Elections could not take place in Hamirpur due to the non-issuance of the reservation roster despite the preparation of the voter list, the spokesperson said.

The draft publication of the voter lists is scheduled for June 8, 2026, while the final voter list will be published on or before July 4, 2026.

The commission said that eligible citizens can submit requests to include their names in the voter list, make corrections, remove names, or file other claims and objections within the stipulated period, the spokesperson said.

Claims and objections will be accepted until June 18, and the revising authority will dispose of them by June 22, the spokesperson said.

Elections were scheduled for seven municipal corporations in the state, excluding the newly formed Shimla Municipal Corporation. On May 17, elections were held for four of these, Dharamshala, Palampur, Mandi, and Solan.

However, elections could not take place for the remaining three, Baddi, Una, and Hamirpur. For Baddi and Una, neither the voter lists were ready, nor the reservation roster was issued, the spokesperson said. PTI COR BPL SHS
