Ranchi, Jul 22 (PTI) Preparations are in full swing for President Droupadi Murmu’s two-day visit to Jharkhand from July 31, an official said on Tuesday.

The President had earlier been scheduled to be in the state on June 10 and 11, but it was postponed.

“President Droupadi Murmu is arriving on a two-day visit to Deoghar, Ranchi and Dhanbad from 31 July to 1 August. During this, she will attend the first convocation of Deoghar AIIMS. She will also attend the convocation of IIT (ISM) in Dhanbad. The preparations for her arrival were reviewed on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari,” the official said.

The chief secretary directed the officials concerned to make all arrangements for the President’s visit on time.

“In view of the month of Sawan, a separate route was decided to take the President from the airport to AIIMS without obstructing the devotees’ Kanwaria path in Deoghar,” a statement from the state government said.

During her visit, the President may offer obeisance at the revered Baba Baidyanath Dham, one of the 12 ‘jyotirlingas’ and a prominent pilgrimage destination in the temple town, an official said.

She will attend the convocation ceremony of AIIMS Deoghar as the chief guest on August 1.
