Shimla, May 1 (PTI) An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Shimla Police has been suspended after a purported video of him kicking a person during a verbal dispute surfaced on social media, police said on Friday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shimla, Gaurav Singh, said an inquiry has been ordered in the matter. According to police, the alleged incident took place on Friday near Tavi Mod area in Shimla when the ASI, who was on VIP duty during the president’s visit, asked a taxi driver to remove his vehicles from the road.

The man said he had a taxi and a bike at the spot and can only remove one of them, which irked the policeman. This led to a verbal altercation between them, after which the taxi driver started to record a video, claiming that the ASI was misbehaving with him.

As the taxi driver tried to show the nameplate of the ASI on his video, the policeman is seen in the video kicking the person.

The video has been widely circulated on social media, after which, Shimla SSP Gaurav Singh suspended the ASI. PTI COR SKY SKY
