New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the All India Conference of Director Generals/ Inspector Generals of Police from 30 November and 1 December. The conference, held at the State Convention Centre, Lok Seva Bhawan, will focus on crucial national security issues such as counter-terrorism, left-wing extremism, coastal security, narcotics, and new criminal laws, a PIB release stated.

The three-day event will serve as a platform for senior police officers and security administrators to discuss and address operational, infrastructural, and welfare concerns faced by police forces across India.  Discussions will encompass the formulation and sharing of best practices in crime control, law and order management, and internal security threat mitigation.

The conference will also see the awarding of the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service.  This year’s conference will feature a full day of activities, including yoga sessions, business sessions, break-out sessions, and thematic dining tables, providing ample opportunity for senior police officials to engage with the Prime Minister on critical policing and internal security matters, the release added.

The annual DGsP/IGsP Conference has been held across India since 2014 under Prime Minister Modi’s initiative, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing among police forces. This year marks the 59th conference, with previous locations including Guwahati, Rann of Kachchh, Hyderabad, Tekanpur, Statue of Unity, Pune, Lucknow, New Delhi, and Jaipur.

The Union Home Minister, Principal Secretary to PM, National Security Adviser, Ministers of State (Home Affairs), DGPs of States/UTs, and Chiefs of Central Police Organisations are expected to attend the conference.
