Chandigarh, Jul 29 (PTI) Punjab BJP chief Kewal Singh Dhillon on Wednesday said that the BJP-led central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has undertaken several significant initiatives for the Sikh community.
Dhillon said this after paying obeisance at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo in Bathinda.
During his visit, he offered prayers, expressed gratitude to the Almighty and prayed for ‘Sarbat da Bhala’ (the welfare of all), communal harmony, peace and the continued prosperity of Punjab.
Dhillon also paid obeisance at Bunga Mastuana Sahib in Talwandi Sabo.
Later, he said that the BJP-led government at the Centre under Prime Minister Modi has undertaken several significant initiatives for the Sikh community.
As part of these efforts, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib is being connected to the railway network through a project worth approximately Rs 1,100 crore.
He noted that Takht Sri Damdama Sahib was the only one among the five Sikh Takhts not directly connected by rail.
Once completed, the rail link will connect all five Takhts, making pilgrimage more convenient for devotees and members of the Sikh community from across India and abroad.
He further said that the Bharatiya Janata Party remains committed to establishing governance in Punjab inspired by the ideals of ‘Sher-e-Punjab’ Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s ‘Sarkar-e-Khalsa’.
He expressed confidence that such governance would help resolve Punjab’s challenges and restore the state’s prosperity. PTI CHS KSS KSS
