New Delhi, Oct 20 (PTI) Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday said people are facing “Ravana” in the form of unemployment and inflation, asserting that “we are fighting for the truth” in the battle against falsehood.

Priyanka Gandhi made the remarks to reporters as she attended the Ramlila event at Gandhi Maidan, located on the Red Fort grounds in Delhi, where she offered prayers to Lord Ram and sought his blessings.

“This is not an occasion for us to engage in politics, so I will not give any specific message to the government. I would just say that today, the entire public is facing what can be described as a form of Ravana — unemployment, rising inflation,” Priyanka Gandhi said.

The battle between truth and falsehood continues even today, she said.

“We are fighting for the truth, and we will always continue to fight,” Priyanka Gandhi said.

The Congress general secretary participated in the Ramleela Mahotsav and the Ravana ‘dahan’ ceremony.

Earlier in the day, she said in a post in Hindi on X, “Heartfelt greetings on the auspicious festival of Vijayadashami, a symbol of the victory of justice, truth and righteousness over injustice, falsehood and unrighteousness.”

“I pray to the epitome of propriety, Lord Ram, that he may bring happiness, peace and prosperity into all your lives,” she said. PTI ASK KSS

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
