New Delhi: Educator Faisal Khan aka ‘Khan sir’ will not surrender in the case related to vandalism at his coaching centre in Patna and instead apply for anticipatory bail, his lawyer told ThePrint.
The police have already arrested two security guards, who are said to have fired during violence outside his coaching institute, Khan Global Studies (KGS), in Patna on 2 June.
“He did not come to the court today. Khan sir has been cooperating with the police over the investigation. The law allows provision to file for anticipatory bail, hence we will not be surrendering. We will file an anticipatory bail on Monday,” Khan’s lawyer Arvind Kumar Mahuar told ThePrint.
The firing came after KGS came under attack from a group on the night of 2 June. A guard brutally attacked by unidentified miscreants. This was when—the two guards allegedly told the police—Khan is said to have told them to open fire.
Subsequently, the educator was booked in the case in which the police invoked the charges of attempted murder of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Arms Act.
Calling the charges as “incorrect,” Mahuar said, the firing was done in retaliation and self-defence. “One of the guards was beaten up brutally, who sustained injuries. It was fired in the air. The guards had licensed weapons,” the lawyer told ThePrint.
Earlier in the day, Khan’s legal representatives submitted bail applications on behalf of the two arrested security guards, identified as Pradeep Kumar and Telebar Singh, in a Patna court.
As of now, the rivalry angle is also being probe as two coaching institutes, KGS and Gyan Bindu Coaching, are at the centre of the controversy. Khan and Gyan Bindu’s director Roshan Anand are said to be locked in a tense competition given the demands of the coaching industry.
With Anand under arrest, the fight has gone ugly with both sides pointing fingers at each other in the episode. Students and teachers have been trying to build up the case of Khan and Anand with the tussle even entering the realm of social media.
A senior officer from Patna Police told ThePrint that along with two staffers, Anand has been arrested. Raids were conducted and legal action was taken to identify the perpetrators, the officer added.

Preliminary findings suggest that about 15-20 people, associated with Gyan Bindu, were allegedly involved in stone pelting and vandalism at KGS. During the investigation, police then found a video in which two people were seen firing in the air, right after the incident.
“The Kadamkuan police station verified the video, following which, a case was registered, and the two security guards were taken into custody for questioning. Their weapons were seized and sent to FSL for examination,” a senior officer of the Patna Police told ThePrint.
Charges & counter charges
After the violence unfolded, Khan had told the media that the main issue seems to be the low fees of his institute. “Why are we getting such massive results? We appeal to the administration to keep security concerns in mind, recognizing that the poor, too, have the right to an education. When results are produced in the thousands, certain anti-social elements tend to feel threatened,” he told the media.
“The attackers completely vandalised the office and opened fire… The CCTV footage has been handed over to authorities. Our security guard has identified the perpetrators—it is the people from the nearby coaching center. We need protection. This is a matter for the administration to handle… It is obvious to everyone that the nearby coaching institute is behind this (violence).”
The police complaint submitted to Kadamkuan police station by KGS coaching manager Kanhaiya Kumar Singh alleged that the two brothers of Anand attacked the guard at the behest of the Gyan Bindu director.
“They suddenly came to the gate of my coaching center and began assaulting the guard, resulting in a head injury. As the commotion ensued, people from nearby areas also gathered. The boys then vandalized and abused me, breaking the coaching center’s board, barricades, and a photo of Khan sir.”
The reason for the altercation was that the Bihar Police constable results in which more KGS students were selected, he alleged. “This jealousy led to this incident at the behest of Roshan Anand.”
On the other hand, Anand told the media that there was a conspiracy going on to trap Gyan Bindu after “the success of the Bihar police exam”.
The FIR, a copy of which has been seen by ThePrint, which is filed by a sub-inspector, said that when the police identified the two guards who had licensed rifles obtained from a Noida-based security agency.
“…..they revealed that on 2 June, 2026, at approximately 10.30 pm, some violent individuals emerged from outside Khan Global Academy, assaulted and injured Chunchun, the security guard posted at the gate, and began tearing the banner, and creating a loud commotion. We, along with Khan sir, alias Faisal Khan, took our weapons and came out of the office to find a crowd outside the gate, and the people were violently shouting…,” the FIR said..
Further, the FIR mentioned that “seeing this, Khan sir, alias Faisal Khan, and another unidentified colleague told us, ‘What are you looking at? Open fire on the crowd. I’ll deal with whatever happens.”
In a statement, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patna, Kartikeya K Sharma said that the two individuals seen firing in the video were arrested and their weapons seized and sent to a forensic lab for testing.
The FIR, the SSP said, was lodged against Khan and two others under the BNS and the Arms Act.
Perception battle
In related developments, several social media accounts have come out in support of Anand with posts seeking ‘Justice for Roshan Anand sir,’ replete with hashtags and AI-generated images.

His supporters have also been taking out candle marches in Patna.
According to his supporters, Anand has been framed and arrested on wrongful charges. “We request the Bihar government to release Roshan sir. He is innocent, and has been framed by Khan sir,” read multiple posts in his support.
Gyan Bindu is popular among Bihar police and civil service aspirants as well as candidates looking to crack national-level undergraduate entrance exams like National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), and Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
Similarly, KSG is an established name in Bihar with its presence in cities outside Bihar like Jaipur (Rajasthan), Bhopal, and Indore (Madhya Pradesh).
Its Instagram page shows that the tussle is playing out in the ground as well as in the virtual world. Students of KGS had blocked roads, while teachers associated with KGS have been sharing videos in Khan’s support.
In one of the videos, Khan himself explains how his security guard was injured at the coaching centre. “Our guards fired in self defence, they tried to save the guard who was brutally beaten up, they didn’t leave him to die…,” the popular educator says in the video.
