Mumbai, Jul 22 (PTI) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anil Parab on Tuesday dared Maharashtra minister Yogesh Kadam to file a defamation suit or bring a privilege notice against him for linking him to a “dance bar”, saying it would give a platform for him to prove the charges he has levelled.
Addressing a press conference, Parab said he will also approach Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and submit the evidence against Kadam, who is minister of state for home, and seek his resignation.
On Monday, Kadam said he will bring a privilege notice against Parab, an MLC, for levelling baseless charges against him and linking him to a “dance bar”, which are banned in the state.
Reacting to it, Parab said, “I dare Yogesh Kadam to file a defamation suit and bring a privilege notice against me and give a platform to prove the charges against him. If the CM does not take action, then I will move the court.” Last week, Parab had alleged that a “dance bar” in Mumbai had permit in the name of Kadam’s mother. Parab had alleged this conflict was of interest as the minister cannot have business interest in a department he is a part of.
On May 30, the police raided ‘Saavali’ bar in Mumbai’s Kandivali area and apprehended 22 bar dancers, 22 customers and four staff members, Parab had alleged in the state legislative council.
On Tuesday, Parab said the bar was raided twice on May 28 2023 for the same offence and also on August 10, 2023.
“You (Kadam) said you are not aware of what’s not happening in the bar. But you (Kadam) did not take any precaution. It is the direct responsibility of the minister,” Parab said on Tuesday.
The Sena (UBT) leader also alleged that Kadam diverted “sand” from Jagbudi river in Ratnagiri, his home district, to a dental college linked to his family when the construction material was meant to be given to farmers.
The dental college, where Kadam allegedly diverted sand from Jagbudi river, is named after the minister’s sister and he was also a director of the educational institute, Parab claimed.
On Monday, the minister, however, said he was no more linked to the dental college.
On this, Parab said although Kadam may not be holding any position in the dental college, his family is involved in the trust that runs the college. So this fits the case of conflict of interest, he added. PTI PR NP
