Hyderabad, Sep 3 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday said AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and his younger brother Akbaruddin Owaisi are no less patriotic in comparison with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Speaking after the inauguration of a bridge here, he said somebody commented that Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi (who is an MLA) are against the country.
Reddy said he does not accept such comments at all.
The CM said the AIMIM president joined him and other Congress leaders when they took out at a rally here in solidarity with the soldiers during Operation Sindoor and prayed for India’s victory.
Political comments on different issues can be made, but none can raise a finger at Asaduddin and Akbaruddin when it comes to patriotism.
“They are patriots. I would like to say with emphasis, with responsibility, as chief minister, they are no less in patriotism compared to Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. In safeguarding the country, they will never step back. It could be different politics,” he said.
The AIMIM leaders may have tried to defeat Modi and Shah and even the Congress in elections, but such things happen in elections, he said.
The chief minister hit out at opposition BRS and BJP for allegedy creating hurdles to the prestigious Musi Rejuvenation project.
He said the state government has taken up the Musi project and also aiming to create a night-time economy in the city.
The project would ensure job opportunities to the local poor Muslim community.
The CM criticised the previous BRS government for not allocating funds to the infrastructure development projects in the city and confined it to only laying foundation stones during the 10 year rule.
BJP leaders praise the Sabarmati Rivefront project in Gujarat and the Namami Gange project in Uttar Pradesh but oppose the Musi project in Hyderabad, he alleged.
The CM asserted that Telangana will develop only when the Hindus and Muslims are united and move together.
Speaking on the occasion, Asaduddin Owaisi said: “I don’t have any hesitation in saying that we (AIMIM) are supporting the government in the name of Revanth Reddy and not in the name of any (Congress) party”.
He said the AIMIM had earlier supported the BRS.
The AIMIM also wants Hyderabad and Telangana to progress during Revanth Reddy’s tenure, he said.
“We don’t want commnalism to grow in the state. We don’t want to see the situation in Telangana which is seen in different parts of the country.” He said he hoped Revanth Reddy will take Telangana to newer heights during his tenure.
The AIMIM chief further requested the CM to grant permission for a night market in Charminar area once a week to enable shops and hotels to remain open, which would ensure an increase in economic activity. PTI SJR VVK SJR KH
