Shimla, Jun 16 (PTI) The Shimla Met Office on Tuesday issued an orange warning for hail, thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds with a speed of 40-50 kmph at isolated places in five districts for June 18.
The alert pertains to Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Shimla.
The weather office also issued a yellow warning indicating thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds with a speed of 40-50 kmph at isolated places in five to 10 districts between Wednesday and Saturday.
It has predicted a wet spell in the state till June 22 as a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from June 18.
Meanwhile, hailstorms were witnessed in Shimla, Kinnaur, Mandi, Chopal and Rampur, while thunderstorms and lightning occurred in Shimla, Jubberhatti, Kangra, Sundernagar, Jot, Murari Devi and Kufri.
Light to moderate rain lashed a few parts of the state in the 24 hours since Monday evening.
Gohar received 44.6 mm of rain, followed by Jot (41 mm), Kufri (39.6 mm), Bhattiyat (38.1 mm), Nagrota Suriyan (35.6 mm), Pachhad (24 mm), Olinda (23.4 mm), Shilaroo (18.8 mm), Sundernagar (17.9 mm), Shimla (13.4 mm), Kangra (10.9 mm) and Mandi (5 mm).
Kukumseri was the coldest at night with a low of 5.3 degrees Celsius, while Una was the hottest during the day, recording a high of 36.4 degrees Celsius. PTI BPL PRK
