Mangaluru (Karnataka), Jul 22 (PTI) Police on Tuesday said one more person has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 32-year-old man in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to eleven.

The latest accused, Sahith alias Shahith (24), a resident of Ammunje village, was arrested late Monday night, a senior police official said.

“Sahith was arrested in connection with the murder case of Abdul Rahiman, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Bantwal rural plice station,” he added.

Rahiman and his 29-year-old co-worker, Kalandar Shafi, were unloading gravel in the Erakodi area of Kuryal village on May 27 when two motorcycle-borne men allegedly attacked them with a sword, police said.

Rahiman died on the spot, while Shafi sustained serious injuries and survived.

The arrested suspect has been remanded to police custody, even as the motive behind the incident is yet to be ascertained. PTI COR AMP SSK
