Kozhikode (Keralam), Oct 25 (PTI) One person was killed and seven others injured after a utility vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a gorge at Peedikapara here on Sunday evening, police said.
The accident occurred at around 6 pm when the open-roof vehicle, carrying eight people from Marad in Kozhikode, was travelling along the Kakkadampoyil road.
The occupants were youngsters returning from Kakkadampoyil, a tourist destination, police said.
The vehicle reportedly went out of control, veered off the road and plunged into the gorge.
Residents rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. The injured were later taken to nearby hospitals.
One of the eight occupants succumbed to injuries, while the other seven were injured. Six of them suffered serious injuries, officials said.
