Amethi (UP), Jun 24 (PTI) A man was killed and two persons were injured after a dispute between two families over dancing at a wedding reception spiralled into a violent clash here, police said on Wednesday.

They said six people have been booked in connection with the incident that occurred late Tuesday night in Barsanda village under the Kamrauli police station area.

According to police, some youths had an argument at the wedding reception over dancing. The dispute soon escalated and led to a clash between two families.

During the violence, Om Prakash Chauhan (45) was allegedly attacked with a sharp-edged weapon and sustained serious head injuries. He was rushed to the Jagdishpur community health centre, where doctors declared him dead, police said.

Two persons were injured in the incident, they said.

Based on a complaint by Chauhan’s family members, a case has been registered against six people. Four suspects have been taken into custody and are being questioned, Additional Superintendent of Police Gyanendra Kumar Singh said.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, he said. PTI COR CDN DIV DIV
