Palghar, Jul 2 (PTI) A man drowned and another went missing in Maharashtra’s Palghar district amid heavy rains, an official said on Thursday.
Both the victims were out fishing despite a warning by the district administration against venturing into water bodies, said Vivekanand Kadam, chief of the Palghar District Disaster Management Cell.
Chander Kisan Wartha (28), a resident of Mauje Chahade in Palghar taluka, was washed away while fishing in a stream on Wednesday night. His body was recovered from a drain at Mauje Chahade Dhanvipada at around 1 on Thursday afternoon, Kadam said.
Vitthal Janya Kedar (55), resident of Mauje Peth (Kedarpada), went missing after venturing out for fishing in the Surya river at around 10 am on Wednesday. A search operation was on to trace him, the official said. PTI COR KRK
