Agra, Sep 13 (PTI) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said Uttar Pradesh, once known for poor roads, insecurity and riots, has undergone a transformation under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and is now recognised for its ‘One District, One Product’ initiative.

Singh was here to attend the Khatik Garjana Sammelan organised by the All India Khatik Samaj in the Khandari area.

Addressing the gathering, Singh said there was a time when the state was marked by bumpy roads and an atmosphere of insecurity, with riots taking place frequently.

“Earlier, there was ‘one district, one mafia’, but Adityanath has changed this picture. Today, Uttar Pradesh is known for ‘One District, One Product’,” he said.

The defence minister said development was taking place across all sectors in the state.

Singh was felicitated by members of the Khatik community, who presented him with a silver crown. He, however, asked them to donate the crown to a poor girl.

Calling for social unity and harmony, Singh said the Khatik community had always been at the forefront of protecting the country and religion.

“Khatik woh hai jo khauf ko hara de (A Khatik is the one who defeats fear),” he said in his speech. PTI COR ABN PRK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
