Bhubaneswar, May 15 (PTI) Hours after the Centre increased fuel prices, the Odisha government on Friday hiked bus fares by at least two paise per km in ordinary passenger carriers.
In a notification issued by the Transport Commissioner, the fare for ordinary passenger buses will now be 90 paise per km from the earlier rate of 88 paise.
Similarly, the per km fare of express buses has been raised to 94 paise from 92 paise.
The fare for deluxe buses has been revised from Rs 1.27 to Rs 1.31 per kilometre. In the AC deluxe category, the fare will be Rs 1.59 per kilometre instead of Rs 1.55.
In the super deluxe category, the fare has been hiked by six paise per kilometre, taking the revised rate to Rs 2.47 per kilometre.
Noting that the fare hike was necessary, the notification said the price of both petrol and diesel has been increased by Rs 3 per litre.
The notification said the prices were hiked for stage carriages other than town buses plying within Odisha and it will be effective from the date of issue of the order. PTI AAM AAM ACD
