New Delhi: Months after the Income Tax department surveyed the account books of a company in which Abir Lavasa, son of Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa, is a director, and sent a notice, the Enforcement Directorate has started a probe against him and the firm for alleged violation of foreign exchange laws.

Abir Lavasa reportedly holds 10,000 shares in the company. Abir Lavasa has been a director of Nourish Organic Food Pvt. Ltd. since 14 November 2017. Saama Capital has also invested in Paytm, Snapdeal and ChaiPoint.

Ashok Lavasa’s wife and his sister had earlier come under scrutiny of the I-Tax department for alleged non-declaration of income and disproportionate assets.

  1. Now is the sttategy by people holding high offices to go against the government as a pre empt move if their relatives are engaged in business/industry so that such claims will go in their favour at a later time when vialations of any law if is found. They can simply claim that it is only political vendeta if any reports come about their kith and kin. Without beureucrat’s active involvement no wrong thing can happen in execution of the government policies. The nexus between thebaus and natas are so thick that they both can sail safely as long as they keep up the said relatiomship. This is how Indias wealth has been eroded by both these people. The politicians though might be having a chance for defeat might have amazed wealth and the babus having come through selection, at the worst will get only transfer amd no earth will down under their heads. This set up emboldens them to thrive for ever with irregularities causing heavy erosion of publoc resources ending with the state of econmy being down trodden. But the same people in nexus would shout loudly about the economy going down in Stature. Funny state of affairs. It can happen and has been happenin in India only. The ED and IT should have more powers and the courts should deter the practice of giving stay/bail to all the cases as a general practice. Which would enable the government to unearh the hoarding ofnational resources by influenced persomalities/ body corporates on pseudo names
