New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami responded affirmatively to Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant’s request to acquire land in his home state for shifting base from Delhi.
In a post made Saturday early hours on social media platform X, Pant wrote about his struggle to acquire land in his home state. The cricketer revealed that he had been trying for a long time but had failed, while also expressing his love and commitment towards his state, Uttarakhand.
“I have been trying to buy land to shift my base from Delhi to Uttrakhand and I couldn’t find anything facilitating and big to live here I love my Uttrakhand (sic),” he said in the post on X that left the social media buzzing.
In 2022, Pant had met with a life-threatening accident while he was driving from Delhi to his hometown Roorkee in Uttarakhand. After undergoing initial treatment in Dehradun, he was airlifted to Mumbai for specialised under the care of the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s specialist consultant.
Pant is currently with the Indian cricket team in Sri Lanka for the two-match Test series there.
The cricketer’s call for help to acquire land described the process of purchasing one in Uttarakhand as a “nightmare.”

While his desperation was evident, the post spelt the feeling in a different way. The post began casually asking the Chief Minister: “hello sir how’s you ???”
“My humble request to us is please help me in land acquisition cause nowadays it had become nitemare (sic),” the wicketkeeper wrote. He ended with the line: “Seriously didn’t know how to do it.”
Pant added that he was promised and was due to get some land while promoting the state and hasn’t received any clarity on that either. The 28-year-old’s desire to shift back to his ‘Pahadi people’ was caught on by Dhami, who, in a separate post replying to the request, said that he has ordered officials to look into the matter.

The chief minister noted that the cricketer’s contribution has “illuminated the name of Devbhoomi in the country and the world.”
Uttarakhand is also called as Devbhoomi, or the Land of the Gods. It is derived from the hill state’s spiritual importance as it is home to several Hindu holy sites such as the four Dhams—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
“Your love for your motherland and your sentiment of returning here to contribute are highly commendable,” Dhami said in the post originally in Hindi.
