Tesla store to open 15 July at Bandra Kurla Complex
Elon Musk’s Tesla will open its first store in India in the financial capital of Mumbai, marking the entry of the $309.56 worth company into the world’s third-largest car market this coming Tuesday, 15 July.
In an invitation to the media late Thursday, Tesla Inc. stated that the 15 July event will be the “launch of Tesla in India through the opening of the Tesla experience centre at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC)”—the leading commercial business district in the city.
Rahul reaches Bhubaneswar for Congress mega rally
Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge reached Odisha on Friday for the ‘Samvidhan Bachao Samavesh (Save the Constitution meeting)’ and other party programmes in Bhubaneswar. 2 Americans on yacht rescued off Andaman coast
Two crew members on a US yacht sent a distress signal after they got stranded in the turbulent waters off the coast of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) rescued them on 10 July after receiving a distress alert from the US Consulate in Chennai at Port Blair at 11.57 am.
The yacht, ‘Sea Angel’, was stranded 52 nautical miles south-east of the Indira Point. Extremely rough weather conditions led to the vessel being disabled, with a blown sail and entangled propeller, a senior official of the ICG said.
Shots fired at Kapil Sharma’s new restaurant in Canada
In Canada, Surrey Police Service (SPS) said it responded to a call on Thursday (10 July) from a business at 1.50 am local time. The shots rang out from the restaurant newly opened by comedian Kapil Sharma—Kap’s Cafe.
When SPS reached the spot, it was “determined that the shots were fired towards the business, damaging the property, while staff members were still present inside”.
Hindustan Unilever to get its 1st woman CEO
Priya Nair was named the first woman Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL). She will replace Rohit Jawa, who will step down on 31 July, assuming office in August.
Currently, the president of the London-headquartered company Beauty and Wellbeing, she oversees a €13 billion portfolio of hair care, skin care, prestige beauty, and health and wellbeing brands, available in over 20 countries. Nair will be CEO and MD of Hindustan Unilever for five years, and eventually, join the HUL board, subject to necessary approvals, continuing to be a member of the HUL leadership executive.
Pakistan to assess risk for hockey team’s India visit
Pakistan is inclined to send its hockey team to India for the back-to-back Asia Cup and the Junior World Cup, said Rana Mashhood, the chairman of the Youth Development Programme of the Pakistan PM. He added that the team will travel for the tournaments only if the Pakistan government is satisfied with the security situation in India.
Mashhood pointed out that it was not yet safe for Pakistani nationals to travel to India after Operation Sindoor in May this year. However, first, Pakistan will conduct a safety assessment to check whether the players will be at any risk in India.
6,400 pilgrims leave Jammu base camp for Amarnath
Over 6,400 pilgrims, accompanied by a multi-tier security escort, left for the twin base camps of Amarnath. This group, the 10th batch of pilgrims of 4,838 men, 1,387 women, 16 children, and 241 monks, left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu in 268 vehicles early Friday morning.
More than 1.3 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the shrine since the commencement of the 38-day annual yatra on 3 July, which follows a trail through Pahalgam in the Anantnag district or Baltal in the Ganderbal district.
MeitY & BITS-Pilani to offer cybersecurity course
The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Birla Institute of Technology and Science-Pilani (BITS-Pilani) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch professional development programmes in cybersecurity for professionals across the government, public sector, and industry.
It is a significant step towards further strengthening Indian cyber defence capabilities and building a skilled cybersecurity workforce.
National-level tennis player shot dead by father
Deepak Yadav, the father of Radhika Yadav, has confessed to killing his daughter, tennis player Radhika Yadav. Deepak stands accused of allegedly shooting his daughter thrice on Thursday. One of the bullets hit her neck, and two hit her back.
On 10 July, amid a heated argument over Radhika running a tennis academy in the neighbourhood, Deepak allegedly killed his daughter.
Electoral roll revision: Bihar Dy CM hails SC call
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chowdhary, on Thursday, welcomed the Supreme Court decision to allow the Election Commission of India to continue with its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, calling it a “constitutional mandate”.
