Shimla, Aug 14 (PTI) The National Commission for Scheduled Castes on Friday summoned Himachal Pradesh’s additional chief secretary (Home and Vigilance) and the DGP to appear before it in New Delhi on August 20 over a DSP’s allegations of caste-based harassment.
National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) member Partha Biswas will hear the matter, according to an official notice.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home and Vigilance) R D Nazeem and Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Tewari have been instructed to bring all relevant documents, case records, files and an action-taken report.
The NCSC also indicated that the complainant, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vijay Kumar Raghuvanshi, may also be asked to be present during the hearing.
The controversy erupted after Raghuvanshi’s official vehicle was withdrawn.
In his June 3 complaint to the NCSC, the DSP alleged that the action was taken against him after he gave a lift to a senior police officer. He described the incident as “caste-based harassment”.
