New Delhi, Sep 28 (PTI) The senior leadership of the Indian Navy will undertake a comprehensive review of its operational preparedness and contribution to safeguarding India’s maritime interests, including energy security amid the West Asia conflict, at a three-day biannual conference from September 29, officials said on Monday.
The commanders’ conference – the Navy’s apex-level forum – will be attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff Gen N S Raja Subramani and Navy Chief Admiral Krishna Swaminathan. Army Chief Gen Dhiraj Seth is also scheduled to interact with participants.
The second edition of the Navy’s biannual conference will be held from September 29 to October 1 at Nausena Bhawan here.
“As the Indian Navy’s apex-level forum, the conference provides an avenue for senior naval leadership, including outstation operational and area commanders, to undertake a comprehensive review of operational preparedness at military-strategic level, and engage with senior government functionaries through an institutionalised mechanism,” a Navy spokesperson said.
The conference will be “pivotal” in underscoring the Navy’s contribution towards safeguarding India’s maritime interests, including “security of energy” amid the ongoing conflicts in West Asia, he said.
The Navy said its resolute conduct of ongoing Operation Urja Suraksha and its emergence as a credible maritime force further bolsters its stature as a “Preferred Security Partner” in the Indian Ocean Region and beyond.
On the opening day, Defence Minister Singh will share his vision and guidance on national maritime perspectives and expectations from the Indian Navy.
The CDS and the Chief of the Army Staff will also engage with naval commanders to foster tri-services synergy and integration, the official said.
“On subsequent days, the Chief of the Naval Staff, along with the commanders-in-chief, will review key focus areas, viz., operations, materiel, logistics, human resources training, induction of niche technologies such as AI, big data analysis (BDA), autonomous/uncrewed systems, and cyber operations, reinforcing the need to imbibe cutting-edge warfighting concepts and accelerating technology absorption,” the spokesperson said.
On a broader canvas, the Navy’s apex leadership will “assess overall preparedness to optimise force levels and enhance combat readiness in consonance with three foundational pillars of JAI (jointness, aatmanirbharta, innovation)” in pursuit of the government’s vision of Aatmanirbharta and Viksit Bharat by 2047, the spokesperson said.
