Kohima, Apr 18 (PTI) Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Saturday urged youths to move beyond the conventional pursuit of government jobs and embrace innovation, entrepreneurship and creative thinking.

Interacting with students of Eden Higher Secondary School during an educational tour to Lok Bhavan, the governor stressed that hard work, self-confidence and determination are essential for success, asserting that there is no substitute for hard work.

In a wide-ranging interaction on leadership, governance and education, Yadav encouraged students to stay focused on their goals, dream big and contribute meaningfully to society.

He said youths should not limit their aspirations to government employment, but explore emerging opportunities in innovation-driven sectors, while also highlighting Nagaland’s potential in tourism and other areas.

Yadav also emphasised the responsible use of technology, urging students to view it as an asset and harness its benefits productively.

Referring to his own journey into public service, he said inspiration drawn from Jayaprakash Narayan led him into student movements and later public life, adding that the spirit of public service must come from within.

He underscored gender equality, stating that women are equal to men in capability and potential, and called for collective efforts toward the betterment of the state.

Later, the governor visited Cathedral of Kohima (Mary Help of Christians Church), where he acknowledged the church’s contribution in promoting peace, compassion, education and service, while recognising its role in shaping Nagaland’s social and cultural identity. PTI NBS NBS MNB
