Indore, Sep 17 (PTI) BJP president Nitin Nabin on Thursday took a veiled jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron ki Goonj’ programme by saying some people were now talking about youths but never thought of giving them loans for development.
Addressing a state government programme here to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and the completion of 25 years of his tenure as an elected representative, Nabin said the Opposition was pained to see India’s rapid development and was restless without power.
Hitting out at the Opposition for questioning BJP programmes such as ‘Seva Diwas’, ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ and ‘Ashirwad ka Diya’ to mark Modi’s birthday, Nabin said, “You only indulged in politics, while we worked to unite society and take people forward on the path of development. You cannot understand the meaning of the word service.” Opposition leaders are pained to see India’s rapid development, welfare measures for the poor and the country’s “self-respect” in the defence sector under Modi’s leadership, and since cannot see any door to power now, they are restless from within, he said.
Modi has united the country under the slogan of ‘Nation First’, while the Opposition’s approach was ‘Self First, Party Next and Nation Last’, Nabin asserted.
The Narendra Modi government had launched Startup scheme, Unicorn scheme and MUDRA loan scheme for youths, he said. More than two lakh startups were operating in the country and youths were emerging as job creators, the BJP chief added.
In a jibe at Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron ki Goonj’ programme here, Nabin said, “People are talking about youths these days. During your time, did you ever think of giving loans to 57 crore youths.” Under Congress governments, benefits of welfare schemes were provided on the basis of vote banks, while the Modi government is providing assistance to the poor and rural people under various schemes on the basis of need and priority, he said.
“Your ancestors gave this country only a divisive mindset. India was forced into Partition and today, when the country is ready to move forward united, you are restless,” he said hitting out at the Congress.
“You say you will unite the country. Those who walk shoulder to shoulder with people who seek to divide the country are today talking about uniting the nation,” he said in another swipe at the Opposition.
Had Congress governments of the past “properly united” the nation, PM Modi would not have had to end the “curse” of Article 370. The task could have been completed by then Home Minister Sardar Patel, he said.
Earlier, Nabin launched the Madhya Pradesh government’s scheme for free registration of rural properties to mark Modi’s birthday.
Speaking after launching the ‘Swamitva Adhikar Abhilekh Nispadan evam Panjiyan Yojana 2026’ here, Nabin said the scheme would enable rural people to register their properties and live with a sense of dignity and self-respect.
Officials said around 50 lakh private properties in rural areas would be registered free of cost under the scheme, the first of its kind in the country.
Highlighting Modi’s contribution to the country’s development, Nabin said, “While carrying forward India’s heritage, Prime Minister Modi has connected 140 crore people with development.” India’s influence is being felt across the world under Modi’s leadership, he said.
But the Opposition parties were only talking about the menu rather than India’s stature as seen at the recently concluded 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, he claimed.
The function was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, among others. PTI HWP LAL KRK BNM
