Mumbai, Jul 27 (PTI) The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) has registered a case against two directors of a Mumbai-based real estate firm for failing to hand over mandatory amenities to a housing society in the western suburb of Vile Parle, police said on Monday.
According to a complaint lodged by an SRA assistant engineer, Joseph S Pattathu and Pearl Joseph Pattathu, directors of Pattathu Brothers, allegedly breached redevelopment terms by failing to transfer possession of six required facilities to the eligible beneficiaries after securing completion certificates for the project.
An official said that the firm had obtained all requisite permissions from the SRA, including the Letter of Intent (LOI) and Occupation Certificate (OC), for the redevelopment of Ganesh Kripa Co-operative Housing Society.
After handing over tenements to eligible beneficiaries, the developer allegedly failed to transfer possession of six mandatory components, including two ‘balwadis’ (daycares) and three offices, to the society.
An inspection by SRA officials revealed that these facilities meant for residents were instead handed over to third parties for personal profit, the complaint alleged.
A case was recently registered under sections 329(4) (criminal house trespass) and 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the official said, adding that a probe is underway.
