Indore, Sep 7 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh’s tribal-dominated Dhar district will get connected to the country’s vast rail network eight decades after Independence after Prime Minister Narendra Modi flags off a MEMU train service between Pratapnagar and Dhar’s Tanda Road stations during a programme in Gujarat’s Vadodara on Tuesday.
The MEMU service will operate on the Chhota Udaipur-Dhar section and will be the first time a passenger train reaches Dhar district, Mukesh Kumar, Public Relations Officer of Western Railway’s Ratlam Division, told PTI on Monday.
This service will strengthen rail connectivity between Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, boosting trade, employment, education, health, and tourism, he added.
“Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the third and fourth rail lines between Vadodara in Gujarat and Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh, creating two UP and two DOWN lines between the two cities,” Kumar informed.
The 12-coach MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train will operate daily between Pratapnagar in Vadodara and Tanda Road stations in Dhar and will connect Vadodara and Chhota Udaipur districts of Gujarat and Alirajpur and Dhar districts of Madhya Pradesh, another official said. PTI HWP MAS BNM
