Sidhi (MP), Sep 9 (PTI) A ‘patwari’ or local revenue official has been suspended after a viral video showed him crossing a river on the shoulders of an elderly man to avoid his shoes getting wet.
The incident took place in Mata Gram Panchayat area in the Gopad Banas tehsil of the district, an official said on Wednesday.
Nilesh Namdev, the patwari, was visiting the village to survey the house and farm of local resident Lalva Kewat to assess the damage caused by wild animals, he said.
Kewat’s house is located across a small river. Namdev, who did not want to get his shoes wet, allegedly told the elderly man that he would be able to conduct the survey only if he was carried across the river.
Kewat then carried the Patwari on his shoulders.
Gopad Banas tehsil Sub-Divisional Magistrate Priya Pathak told reporters that after the video came to light, an inquiry was conducted and the patwari was suspended with immediate effect. PTI MAS KRK
