Bhopal, Apr 24 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday said his government’s commitment towards farmers was sacrosanct and it kept its promises made to them backed by firm action.

“The government stands with farmers in every situation and is implementing numerous schemes for their welfare, be it wheat procurement or land acquisition compensation. The government is committed to making true promises and firm action,” Yadav said in his message to the people of the state on social media.

“I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to serve Madhya Pradesh. I have been discharging my duties with that same spirit of service. Ever since I took the oath as Chief Minister, the entire Madhya Pradesh has been my family. Your happiness is my happiness, and your sorrow is my sorrow,” he said.

Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, MP is rapidly progressing on the path of development, he said.

“Our dear farmer brothers and sisters are the mainstay of the state’s rapid development. I salute all the state’s food providers,” Yadav added.

Asserting that the government was committed to the well-being and prosperity of farmers, he said, “Our government stands with farmers in every joy and sorrow. As a result, the Madhya Pradesh government is continuously taking historic farmer-friendly decisions.” The Madhya Pradesh government is continuously working with a farmer-friendly resolve. With this spirit, this year has been dedicated as the Farmer Welfare Year.

In view of the record wheat production in the state, the state government had requested the Centre to increase the procurement limit. And keeping the interests of farmers paramount, that target has been increased from 78 lakh metric tonnes (MT) to 100 lakh MT, according to him.

Yadav also informed that slot booking for wheat procurement at the support price has been fully opened for all farmers, big and small, across the state. Wheat procurement will now take place six days a week.

Wheat procurement at the support price will continue uninterrupted at procurement centres, he said.

“Our government is committed to ensuring that our farmers face no problems. The state government is always with them,” he said.

Now, farmers will be given up to four times the compensation for their land. This decision reflects our commitment to protecting farmers’ rights and securing their future.

“This is not just a list of decisions, but rather the trust that is strengthening between our government and farmers. We are continuously moving forward in all these areas: expanding irrigation facilities, promoting crop diversification, and disseminating modern agricultural techniques,” he said.

He said that farmers are the backbone of the economy. This is the first time in the country that the Madhya Pradesh government has taken a major step to promote the production of the pulse crop urad (black gram) and the oilseed crop mustard (mustard).

Urad will be purchased at the fixed support price, and farmers will also receive a bonus of Rs 600 per quintal on the purchased urad in addition to the fixed support price.

The CM said that after the success of the soybean price difference scheme in Madhya Pradesh, the announcement of implementing the price difference scheme for mustard also resulted in an increase in market prices.

“For the first time in the country, agricultural pump connections are being made available to farmers for only Rs 5. Additionally, we plan to provide our farmers with adequate electricity for irrigation during the day instead of at night,” he said.

Referring to milk production, Yadav said the government was continuously moving forward with innovations towards making the state a milk capital.

“We have made efforts to increase milk production as well as collection. We have formed 1752 new milk committees. Our daily milk collection has reached over 10 lakh kilograms.

“These are not just statistics, but revolutionary steps towards making Madhya Pradesh the Milk Capital. The government wants to develop new avenues, along with animal husbandry, to increase farmers’ income,” he said. PTI MAS NP
