Narsinghpur (MP), May 13 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday transferred Rs 1,835 crore into the bank accounts of beneficiaries of the ‘Ladli Behna’ financial assistance scheme for women in the state.

This is the 36th instalment made under the scheme during a programme held at Mungwani in Narsinghpur district.

Yadav transferred the money into the bank accounts of 1,25,22,542 beneficiaries of the ‘Ladli Behna’ scheme in the state with a single click.

He also inaugurated and performed ground-breaking ceremonies for 40 development projects worth Rs 296 crore on the occasion.

Yadav described Narsinghpur, named after Lord Narsingh, as a “wonderful” district.

“Congress leaders used to say that the Ladli Behna scheme is only for elections, but we believe that as one’s feelings are, so is one’s image. The sentiments of Congress leaders are wrong. They have never respected mothers and sisters. They have never helped them. Therefore, the party is gradually disappearing from the entire country today,” the CM alleged.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP is steadily growing stronger, he said.

“We (BJP) have formed a government for the third time in Assam and also won a landslide victory in West Bengal. From Gangotri to Ganga Sagar, we are receiving the blessings of Mother Ganga,” he said.

“Our party delivers what it promises. West Bengal was under the rule of goons. Mamata Banerjee was ruthlessly inflicting injustice on the people there. But people keep all the accounts,” he added.

PM Modi had said during the Lok Sabha elections that half the country’s population comprises mothers and sisters, and that they should be given 33 per cent reservation in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha.

However, the entire opposition, including the Congress, TMC, DMK, and Samajwadi Party, insulted them. Modi had said that day that mothers and sisters can forget everything, but cannot forget their own insults and have completely swept the elections.

He said that after the election results, the Opposition started crying foul.

“I tell Congress members, as you sow, so shall you reap. This was the result of Congress’s actions. The relationship with mothers and sisters is paramount for us. Since our government came to power, we have deposited approximately Rs 46,000 crore into the accounts of our beloved sisters. If we include the figure of our previous government, then this figure exceeds Rs 55,000 crore,” Yadav added.

The Ladli Behna scheme was launched in March 2023, during Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s tenure as the state chief minister, to provide monthly financial assistance to eligible women for their economic independence and empowerment. PTI MAS NP
