New Delhi: As the world observes Population Day, a meeting of public health experts has been organised by the Union Ministry of State for Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to discuss the challenges in improving the family planning response in India, a PIB press release stated.
The experts shared their suggestions on equipping youth with information about contraceptive options, global and Indian best practices, and expanding the contraceptive basket of choice.
The meeting also discussed the need to address the challenges of low participation of men in family planning, increasing couple communication, and using data to improve family planning.
The experts also emphasised the importance of reaching out to young people to promote the use of newer contraceptives.
Union Minister, Anupriya Patel, highlighted the importance of the family planning programme in improving the health of women and children in India. She also emphasised the need to address the challenges faced by the programme and to ensure that all people have access to quality family planning services.
The experts’ meeting is part of the ongoing efforts by the Government of India to improve the family planning response and reduce maternal mortality in the country. The government is committed to empowering women and ensuring their access to better reproductive health choices.
