Dehradun, Jun 12 (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 12 years in office, marking a tenure dedicated to public welfare, good governance and the upliftment of the poor.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters here, Dhami extended his greetings to the prime minister on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand, wishing him a long and healthy life.

He noted that Modi has set a new record by serving as an elected prime minister for 12 years, adding that on October 7, 2026, the prime minister will complete 25 years in public life, counting his combined tenure as chief minister and prime minister.

Targeting the opposition, Dhami said that during the Congress regime, welfare schemes remained confined to paper.

He remarked that previous governments used to lay foundation stones while the public waited indefinitely for the inauguration. Today, projects initiated under the current administration are completed and dedicated to the public within the stipulated timeframe, he said.

Dhami claimed that while the Congress raised slogans to eradicate poverty for decades, the Modi government successfully lifted 25 crore people out of poverty.

Corruption was a “regular feature” under the Congress, but the current administration has transferred Rs 4.31 lakh crore directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries through direct benefit transfer, he said.

The chief minister alleged that the Congress party delayed the resolution of the Ram temple issue for years and termed Ram Setu fictional. “In contrast, the construction of the Ram temple was completed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said, adding that the Modi government’s policy is satisfaction for all, whereas for the Congress, it was “appeasement”.

Dhami emphasised Modi’s special attachment to Uttarakhand, noting that development projects worth over Rs 3 lakh crore are currently underway in the state. The Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham redevelopment projects have placed the state on the global spiritual map, he said.

Over 35 lakh pilgrims have visited the Char Dham circuit so far, and the Adi Kailash Yatra saw over 40 thousand pilgrims this year compared to just 500 annually a few years ago, the chief minister said.

Dhami expressed confidence that under Prime Minister Modi, India will soon become the third largest economy in the world and realise the vision of a developed nation. PTI AKY PRK
