Hyderabad, Sep 18 (PTI) The BRS and BJP on Friday slammed the ruling Congress over the disqualification of MLA Danam Nagender by the Telangana High Court, calling it a triumph of truth and democracy.

BJP leader and Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy, however, said both Congress and BRS are two sides of the same coin and that they actively encouraged horse-trading.
He said the disqualification is a major slap in the face of the ruling Congress government in Telangana.
Today it was the Congress, but before that it was the BRS that resorted to such undemocratic means, he said.
The opportunistic political culture was started by BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, he claimed.
During the previous BRS reigme, KCR immediately rewarded “defectors such as Sabitha Indra Reddy” with a ministerial portfolio, he said.
BRS working president K T Rama Rao, in a post, on ‘X’ said, “Satyameva Jayate !! BRS MLA Danam Nagendar who defected to Congress got disqualified by the Hon’ble High Court today. The rest of the defectors will also meet the same fate soon.” Meanwhile, Nagender said he welcomed the High Court order.
Reacting to the court’s order, he told reporters, “Whenever the schedule comes for the election, I will fight and I will win. Fight is not new to me.” Asked if he will approach the Supreme Court against the High Court verdict, he said he has not thought about it so far but is gearing up to fight the election.
The Telangana High Court on Friday disqualified Nagender, a BRS MLA who defected to the Congress, setting aside an order of the Assembly Speaker in March this year dismissing petitions seeking his disqualification.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh declared Nagender, MLA from Khairatabad here, disqualified from April 23, 2024, as a member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly, having contested from Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency on the Congress ticket in 2024, while being a MLA of the BRS.
