Ministry of I&B, AYUSH collaborate for International Day of Yoga celebration

The Ministry of I&B's New Media Wing (NMW) is also planning activities like 'Yoga with Family' contests on their social media accounts.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) and the Ministry of AYUSH have begun the process of planning for the 2024 International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebration, which will take place on June 21st. Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B), and Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH, met today to review the media and outreach strategies for the upcoming IDY, a PIB press release stated.

The Press Information Bureau is one of the media units that is preparing for the event. The bureau will be broadcasting different programmes, including interviews with yoga experts, on Doordarshan (DD)/All India Radio (AIR) Network. A ‘Yoga Geet’ has also been prepared by the Ministry of AYUSH, which will be shared on all media platforms. The Ministry of I&B’s New Media Wing (NMW) is also planning activities like ‘Yoga with Family’ contests on their social media accounts. The challenge will be for families to do yoga together and upload reels using the Yoga Geet. The International Day of Yoga 2024 is to be celebrated on June 21.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) and the Ministry of AYUSH have initiated the preparations for the event. The IDY 2024 Podcast will also be released by the I&B. The Ministry of AYUSH has also organized a series of workshops and camps on yoga to promote the wellness of employees. The International Day of Yoga 2023 was celebrated on June 21.

The event witnessed 23.4 crore participants from 135 countries. The scale and level of celebration of the IDY has been increasing every year since its recognition in 2021. The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, has been at the forefront of the efforts of the Government to promote yoga worldwide.
