Ministry of Culture announces monthly pension for veteran artists

Government scheme aims to boost the financial and socio-economic status of artists above the age of 60.

The Ministry of Culture has been working towards developing a scheme to provide financial assistance to veteran artists of the country. The aim of the ‘Financial Assistance for Veteran Artists’ scheme is to improve the financial and socio-economic status of veteran artists and scholars, a PIB press release stated.

Under the scheme, veteran artists above the age of 60 will be given financial assistance of Rs 6000 per month. The government is determined to provide maximum financial assistance to the selected artists. The selected artists will be given financial assistance for improving their financial and socio-economic status.
